For the month of may we celebrated Australian Wine! With Facts, challenges and Events. Here are some highlights from the month and pictures from the tasting party!
All about the regions
Australia has more than 2,400 wineries dotted throughout 65 wine regions around the country. These regions produce more than 100 different grape varieties
New techniques and traditional methods like the ripasso technique are showing up in Australian wine makers style. Blends involving tempranillo, sangiovese and southern Rhone grape varieties are being added to grapes grown in Australia.
Wine of the month
Note from the maker:
We decided to make the Alfredo range because we wanted to stand ourselves apart from the rest of Australia, in my travels looking for a way to do this it was suggested that we make an Amarone and Ripasso style wine from Shiraz. So following this Italian technique we did this with great success resulting in the Alfredo range of wines. LCBO Link. See more from Nugan Estate
